Communication

Parent/School Communication

Effective communication between school and parents is essential for supporting student success and fostering a strong, collaborative learning environment. We are committed to keeping you informed and engaged through regular updates, newsletters, parent-teacher interviews, and accessible digital platforms. By working together and maintaining open lines of communication, we can ensure that every child receives the guidance and support they need both at school and at home. Your involvement and feedback are valued, and we encourage you to reach out with any questions, concerns, or suggestions.

Daymap - We use Daymap as our Learner Management System. The Daymap Parent Portal enables parents to see their child’s attendance, behaviour notes and grades in real-time. This is also the platform we use to upload school reports and communicate events happening at school with families.

Class Dojo (Years R-6) - Our teachers have embraced Class Dojo which is an app that you can download onto a smart phone or log into via a computer. This allows you to see your child’s learning and to communicate with your child’s teacher.

School Newsletter - the newsletter is issued two times per term, weeks 5 and 10, and is an important link between home and school. It is a way for parents to find out what is happening at school and in the community. Newsletters are now online and can be viewed on our school website.

Facebook - You can also follow us on Facebook – this is another great way to check out what has been happening around the school. Facebook is also used to remind parents about up-and-coming events/activities so check us out! Just search ‘Yankalilla Area School’ and like our page.

Families are always welcome to ring or visit our front office during the hours noted on Contact Us. Parents wishing to meet with their child(ren)s teacher may contact them via a phone call to the front office, via Daymap, Class DoJo or via email.

It is important that our families keep the school informed of any changes to their contact details and this must be done in writing, by completing a ‘Change of Contact Details’ form available from the front office.

School Newsletters

School newsletters are a great way to stay connected and informed about what’s been happening in our school community. They highlight recent events, celebrate student achievements, share important updates, and provide a glimpse into classroom activities and upcoming opportunities. Whether it’s a special project, a sports result, or a reminder about key dates, the newsletter keeps families in the loop and strengthens the partnership between home and school. Be sure to check each edition to stay up to date and involved in school life!

We believe you’ll find the eNewsletter highly engaging, as it will provide us with a more efficient and effective means of connecting with you.

The newsletter also has a sponsorship section which provides a great opportunity for local businesses to engage with our parent community. If you would like to be a part of this, please contact dl.0766.info@schools.sa.edu.au

In an effort to reduce paper consumption we will no longer be printing the newsletter, however if would like a paper copy, please contact the front office, and we will send one home with your child. Please phone 8558 0888 or email dl.0766.info@schools.sa.edu.au

To download the Schoolzine app on your mobile phone or device, please see instructions HERE.

Class Dojo

Classes in the Junior Years 9R-6) use Class Dojo to communicate with their families. The class teacher will provide families with instructions on how to access their Class Dojo.

For information or assistance with any of the above contact the Data Manager, Lori Turner via email on lori.turner336@schools.sa.edu.au.
